It's a long climb and potentially hot, with a few springs along the way, but
not many. Camping is good, and the breakfast at Callaghan's, when you get
to Hwy 5, was great. The waitress offered us a ride into Ashland, but then
business picked up and she couldn't leave, so the owner piled us all into
the resort van and drove us to town. It was a very hiker friendly resort,
and had a hiker special on the menu. But Ashland is incredible for a zero
if you are ready for one. All the folks in my group who were from
elsewhere, named it their favorite town on trail. At least up to that
point. there's some other good stops later on too.
