As Jim notes, there will also be opportunities to work with us PCTA volunteers
on brushing and maintaining the trail south of I-90.

We'll focus our efforts on the north 40 or so miles of long neglected Section I
- the checkerboard clear cuts south of Snoqualmie Pass. Projects will include a
bunch of brushing trips as well as some tread restoration. Most of the projects
will be day trips with quite modest hikes into the work site (if you catch the
project on the right day, we'll start working from a road crossing.) There will
also be a couple or three car camp weekends as well as the day trips. We should
spool up in late June / early July depending on snow melt.

So, yes....if you're interested, contact me or the PCTA volunteer coordinator
(found on PCTA.org) off list and throw your hat in the ring so to speak (or get
your name on the e-mail list....whichever). There are plenty of tools and
hardhats available - all that is needed is YOU to put them to good use.

Future thru hikers: This is your chance to preemptively improve the trail for
your trip. You know it'll be raining when you get to Washington (trust me....I
know this first hand). Do you want to be wading through miles of brush or have
a clear trail? Jim sure did his part last summer and fall, leading many trips
and wielding the brush saw with skill.
