No, I have not been rejected, and I don't see why I would. I have a clean record; however, my cousin that is thru hiking with me this season will most likely get rejected. I was just looking at the options when we reach that point. It would be a good idea to turn around, I like the idea of getting to say goodbye to my friends on the way back. Also, if there was an issue when we arrived entering Canada with my cousin getting rejected and entering anyway, I would hate for it to have any negative impact on PCT hikers in the future because of what happened. I think it best to play the responsible card here. My family wanted to take a road trip to come pick me up in Manning park, but I guess there will be a slight change of plans. No big deal.

I haven't bothered to apply since I will probably get rejected. My issue will actually be cleared up by the time I hike though. I'm still undecided about what to do. The more I think about it, I'm preferring the idea of turning around at the border. It seems like it will be easier and/or cheaper to get home from this side anyway, and Shroomer makes a good point about getting to say goodbye to folks on the way out. If you hike on to Manning Park, the only way to see others is to hang out there. I'd rather hang out on the trail :p


Anyway, if I do decide to cross into Canada, I'll probably do it without applying. I'll plead ignorance. If I have a passport, what will they really do to me? They might harass me a bit, and then what? deport me? that's what I want anyway! LOL


As long as the Canadians don't "want" you for anything, the worst way they can react is to want you to leave. The rejection is their way of saying "we don't want your kind in our country", right? If they don't want you there, why would they stop you from leaving?
