Good points.  Along that line, the ATC is sponsoring a two-day Wilderness First Aid course in the Smokies next week.  Unfortunately, the course was full when I heard about it, so I'm on a waiting list.  If you are in the east, you might contact ATC and ask them to schedule more such classes.
