[pct-l] Bring Guidebooks or Maps?

Those days and that war washed away a great many things. Man, folks have
some taste in letters on this site. Those are some great books. All I
wanted on trail at night was a look at Yogi's guide, a map or two, and a
good poem. If I made it that far without falling asleep I figured it was a
good evening.
I always used to bring King Lear, another "poem" I can read over and over,
and never get bored with. But it was too heavy for my attempt at UL. I
loved reading it all hunkered down in my tent on a stormy night. Now
there's someone who understood the beat in our language.
I've been watching a BBC series with Katie in the evenings and whenever an
obviously English actor is doing an American, it's so obvious because they
ain't got no beat to their speech. Don't get me wrong, I love accents, but
an American accent has to have rhythm, counter point and sync to even come
close to Mango's gorgeous Tennessee twang, a Brooklyn broad base, or my SF
jive. The Beats had it in spades. We sing this language so beautifully in
this country. Thank God for the waves of immigration that has given us such
sounds.
