Brick, I agree with your comments, but I must point out that lawyers do not
give out the judgments and awards, juries do.  So it is very important for
reasonable, sane people to not try to dodge jury duty.

I think this is more a case of Lawyers gaming the system in order to
maximize profits, as is the focus of much of American business these
days.

Ethics is the difference between what you have the right to do and
what is The Right Thing to do

I personally find a disturbing lack of ethics in the USA today, be it
from Business, individuals, or liberal or conservative politicians....
And I see more threats to "the right thing to do" like stewarding our
public treasures such as the PCT, as large businesses with deep
pockets buy more politicians.

Under the guise of deregulation, free markets and human rights for
corporations, I think our government has moved from a democracy to a
Plutocracy.
