Hi gang,
Mammoth Mountain got another 10" of snow over the weekend, bringing the
total for
the season to 636 inches.
The snow fall per season, at Mammoth over the last 40 years, averaged
340 inches.
Last year, which was considered a heavy snow year Mammoth got 516 inches.
The good news is the base declined by 2 feet over the last 2 weeks.
The bad news is the base (snow cover) at the 11,000 foot elevation is
still 21 feet.
The other bad news is that some of the passes are over 12,000 & 13,000
feet high,
which means the base on those high passes most likely exceeds 21 feet.

What does that mean?.....It means that there is not enough time to melt
all that snow
by the time you get to KM and you better be prepared for high snow in
the Sierra.
