You could also hike with a Firewalker.  They could take point and melt canyons through the snow, revealing the trail, all WHILE you hike!  Tightening their control, they'll be human bug-zappers against all those mosquitoes!  In other areas, they can use their skills to scorch poison oak out of the way and toast ticks before you get close enough for them to drop upon you.  That could mean brisk business for Firewalkers:  earn a living AND hike the PCT!  What a deal!
