[pct-l] Food in the Sierras

yeh I've hiked passed Reds, on the PCT but not doing it, and same thing Ranger 
wanted to actually see my permit and canister!

I was told something similar last year by a ranger near Rock Creek, only to
have another ranger demand to see my permit and can. When I explained what
the previous ranger had told me I was told that I was misinformed. I guess
it all depends on who you run into out there. Last year we ran into 4
rangers before Yosemite, the year before, 6. I'd rather carry the canister,
sleep soundly knowing that my food is protected and leave the legal minutia
for another time.
