As mentioned in another post a few minutes ago opening another persons mail
is illegal according to a family friend who is a high profile criminal
defense attorney based out of the city of angels.  They have no authority to
open a packaged addressed to another absent Power of Attorney being granted
to them.  This can only be done in a manner than can withstand scrutiny in a
court with a signed contract certified by a notary.

Hopefully someone on this list less blunt than myself will inform them of
there rights: the right to refuse packages and to call the police about a
suspicious package, whom may decide to inspect a package further; and the
rights of anyone who sends a package which they accept: to send stuff in
confidence.  Anyways, this is not a reason to boycott the cafe.  The fact
that they are willing to accept packages is very generous, they are just
misinformed about both the law and the hiking community.  In fact, we have
more in common with them than not.
