I agree - I spent two summers ago in the backcountry eight days at a time
(with six days between each hitch), and got my tragus pierced (I always
forget that word - had to go look it up again, its that piece of cartilage
that sticks out in front of your ear hole) literally the day before a hitch,
and never had a problem. I cleaned it with the solution the place sold me
for the first couple of weeks, and then after that I didn't worry about it
and it didn't bother me. I've heard the tragus gets infected on a lot of
people, but I've never had a problem with it or any other piercing, so it
may vary from person to person, as well as part of the body.
