Great explanation Eric! It's still too early to tell unless your crystal ball
is much better than what others have...
In 2005, many thrus skipped ahead to NorCal or southern OR, only to find even
more snow there than in the southern Sierra - plus more difficult navigation
and downed trees as Eric noted...
One can ponder potential optional plans, but I would not make any definite
decisions until much later while out on the trail...
Right now the northern Sierra and NorCal is getting more snow - and NorCal has
an even higher %age above 'normal' than the Sierra...
Choose wisely! Don't panic - it's still 2 months until the Sierra...
