If you are going to the kick off, and if Adventure 16 is going to be there, they 
may sell fuel canisters.  Contact them and ask them to bring what you need (for 
purchase).  Or, if you need alcohol, possibly someone will donate a 1 gallon can 
of the stuff, as I did last year.

You aren't allowed to take gas (in any form) for your camp stove either on a 
plane.  This presents a real challenge of course because you'll need to acquire 
it somehow once you reach whereever you are going.  Apparently you can legally 
mail compressed gas canisters, but they can't go by air (so if you live on the 
east coast it's gonna be delayed).  Check with the Post Office.

I've done that.  Problem now is that that's an extra piece of luggage with the 
attendant costs.  On my last trip, I used collapsible poles and stuck them in my 
luggage.
