[pct-l] snow question?

Thank you PCT MOM. And now the snow report live from Northstar at Tahoe.
The California sun has continued it's magic act, making the great 10 foot
piles of snow on every building shrink by feet per day, and in some cases
disappear entirely. Isn't nature wonderful! No one has been skiing off the
tops of buildings in the resort for several days now, and the lift operators
are down to bikini wear. Oh, my heart. We all wish those guys in speedos
would use a little more decorum however. The cornices on the Tahoe Rim
Trail/PCT just west of Squaw Valley are still holding for the moment, but
it's only a matter of time now.

Each morning the same group of class of 2011, thrus, (trail names not to be
divulged) has been burning beseeching fires to the god of warmth and sun, at
the base of the mountain. Today there were burnt offerings on the pyre, a
snowshoe hare, and roadkill squirrel. They said it was still to deep to dig
for rattlesnake dens, and thought that maybe the inclusion of buzzworms to
the sacrifice might provoke controversy on the List, as they had no
intention of eating any of it. But they were trying their best to influence
the upcoming weather.

The forecast for the weekend is cooler, with a chance of light snow
tomorrow, so they may add rattlers to the fire by Sunday to turn things back
to the side of goodness and warmth.

And that's it, live from near Donner Pass

Back to you PCT MOM.
