And just to be a bit more explicit about how I thought such a list
might be developed, I was hoping that folks on the PCT-L with local
knowledge, or personal experience, might contribute to develop a
master list.

Near Castle Crags and Dunsmuir there is Mercy Medical Center in Mt. Shasta. A small hospital but certainly able to handle trail issue pains and injuries.

In Etna you could take the STAGE (Siskiyou Transit And General Express) down Hwy. 3 into Yreka (the largest town in the county - a little over 7000). 

There is also a hospital in Ashland, OR.
