So, it's beginning to sound like we're approaching an agreement regarding 
how to prepare for a thru hike, namely Hike, Hike, Hike.

Through hiking increasingly longer pre-thruhike routes you'll also find out 
if you have it in yourself (enough drive, desire, independence, 
self-sufficiency, etc.) to overcome the mental, emotional, and spiritual 
questions that come up on a long-trail hike.
