By the way, speaking of Vandeman, if you'd like to see an example of violence between the wheeled and unwheeled, see the link below.  Mr. V has been aggressively anti-mountain bike for what seems like forever, and was arrested the summer, accused of assulting riders with an ice pick in one case, and a "saw" in another.  What is interesting are the biker comments below the announcement message of his arrest.  Things like "the policeman replied with "no, we are not enforcing the use of the trail"  which led to a followup message, "One more trail to ride!"  And finally, "Weird...they were handing out tickets at the bottom last fall."

We, the PCT users ('legal' users, that is!) and advocates, must act ('legally') and speak out

there are MANY 'ideas' posted promoting opening more trails to bikers!!
Email the US Forest Service and BLM Superintendents in your area - and for those 'problem' areas 
noted in the next paragraph's link...
Email your congressmen, too - let them all know you don't want 'wheels' on the PCT and that they
should uphold and honor the original 'charter' regarding the PCT, i.e. foot traffic only...

I don't believe the PCTA has even remotely begun to or will ever think of that!
