Yoshihiro,
Nice to hear from you again.
Nice remodeling job on the pack.
Yes, Jen Sport and A-16 made those heavy duty packs with the metal wings.
They are great for heavy loads...I still have two of those.
The fatigue in the muscles in the waist was probably the result of the
waist belt riding to low on the hips and restricting the leg muscles at
the hip....Keeping the waist belt above the hips usually resolves that
problem.

BTW....which pack did you carry and how much did it weigh when we met on
the JMT this year?

Word of caution...prepare for attack from Chuck, Diane and the rest of
the UL gang.

Ned may be a very strong man.
I am not so strong.
My maximal weight for hiking may be 30 Kg (60 pounds), so I always
thinking how to carry heavy load easily as much as possible.
In ancient times, JanSports produced "phantom" backpack, which has the
projection of joints at the both side of waits.
My favorite backpack Mountainhardware Solitude began to break, so I
bought REI XT 85.
This backpack is well constructed, but when I carry 23 Kg load, I feel
fatigue slightly in the muscle of the waist, so I decided to remodel .
