This movie was about men and women through their transexual and
transgendered experience. We have one story about a born female who
lived her / his life in a traditional female way. She grew up a
female, even had boyfriends and girlfriends. Even though she was
feeling very confused she finally decided to het married to a male
friend of hers. She ended up finding out she was born male intersexed
and decided to go through with the transexual procedures. The second
part of the film was about the "she boy". Males in Asian countries
started becoming these "She boys". They would get performing jobs like
dancers and have so many tourists go and see them.
This movie I felt like was more about peoples stories and experiences
rather than a persuasive film. In that sense I don't feel like it was
a feminist film. They did not have a specific goal or persausion in
mind. I think it was more for awareness and education. I didn't really
like the movie because of that. I was hoping more for a fighting
cause. I though the movie was slow and boring. I think if the writers
wanted it to be of a feminist movie they should have concentrated more
on one persons experience or one agenda. The movie moves from stories
with tough times, transitionings, and acceptances. I feel each one of
these stories had an agenda separate from each other. For instance,
the beginning of the movie wanted you to be on their side. The middle
of the movie wanted to inform you on what it was like to go through
the process of transition. The ending of the movie shared some insight
on how we are moving towards more acceptance. I really liked how we
have transitioned into that acceptance. I feel that it is god progress
for our country and our world to see this and know it is ok and
biological certainty.
