It is simply not true that people who support a smaller federal government in general automatically support less spending on national parks, trails, and open space in particular.  Making blanket statements to the contrary is needlessly inflammatory.

I was careful to state that *general* political debate about these sorts of issues was not appropriate for the list but that does not preclude discussion regarding public policy that is *specific* to the PCT or the national trail system.

I don't want to cutoff vigorous discussion about the *PCT*.  I do want to cutoff discussion of political philosophies in general (on this list at least!).
