[pct-l] pepper spray

I like the pepper spray idea.  What would you recommend for non-grizzly environments.

  If you are so inclined as to need protection on the trail, consider a small amount of pepper spray. Packing heat seems ridiculous, weighs too much, and is doubtful that it's going to need to be used on the trail, ever. I believe a hiker is their own worst enemy, and that's being unprepared. I don't think you need to prepare for your hike with a gun in mind. Those who told you that were concerned because you are female. If they were to go out on the trail I bet they aren't toting around gun/ammo. I know I can speak for myself and probably other hikers that I don't want to have to worry about someone out on the trail with a gun whatsoever.
