Thanks for the clarification. From the previous emails, it did not
sound like there would be any healthy food to eat.

They will be plenty of healthy food there. It is hard to keep fresh food
good for days on end in the heat but we do our best. If you don't want
the donuts, don't eat 'em.

I really hate to look a gift horse in the mouth. But sugary
donuts
after a physically demanding hike? C'mon. We are not all still
teenagers out there.
I am 57-1/2 and plan to continue to hike the PCT for many more
decades.
I won't be able to do it if I eat the sugar, fat, processed
flour, and
empty calories found in donuts. I know they taste really good,
but
they do wreck havoc on most people's bodies (especially us ol'
folks).
I appreciate your thoughtfulness and enthusiasm. But would you
be able
to slip in something for the more health-conscious? I would be
happy to
contribute.
Thanks for all your efforts!! I am looking forward to seeing
you at
Walker Pass.

Yes, once again, Switchback has done his research. I can get 28
delicious donuts for $14.99 at my favorite donut shop. This
will be for
the Ruck June 3-6 at Walker Pass for PCT hikers. I guess I will
have to
get 2 or 3 boxes.
I was down at the bakery today looking through the glass windows
at all
the varieties. It was amazing. I could not believe all the
hiker power
goodies. The smell was unbelievable. I especially liked the
chocolate
donut logs. They are so good. The donuts with sprinkles looked
like
they would be a big hit too. Another of my favorites are the
coconut
icing donuts. Super tasty. Those make Kennedy Meadows a given.
I coordinated with the baker for my massive order on the morning
of
Thursday, June 3. Then I drive to Walker Pass. I can imagine
the smell
as I drive into the camp area in the afternoon. I open the door
of my
vehicle and hikers start to faint. They cannot believe it.
They think
they are in heaven.

I hear from master chef, Manyon Ed, that he has steak and
chicken on the
menu for Ruck meals. This is fantastic. This is unbelievable.
This
stupendous. June 3-6 is shaping up as a thru-hiker feast. A
culinary
buffet of biblical proportions.
Along with my donut/roll pastry explosion of flavors and tasty
goodies,
dessert will not be a problem. Hundreds of donuts will be
available to
hikers. Every flavor, every size, every texture will be
beckoning the
hungry hiker to have just one more. Many fingers will be licked
to
gobble up the last morsel of icing and flavor.
Yes, this will be the premier event for the 2010 PCT hiking
season.
This is the Ruck of all Rucks. This will be recorded in many a
trail
journal as the stop that got them through to the Sierras and
beyond.
Hikers will be thinking of Walker Pass as they bang along the
trail.
They will be daydreaming of pastries and hearty plates of food
---- a
smorgasbord delight dancing in their heads.
Hungrily,
Switchback the Trail Pirate
