[pct-l] Getting a ride to VVR

Hi Bill

Thank you so much for noticing and responding to my mail. I knew about the shuttle but I hadn't got around to finding the web page. We've pretty much given up on the idea of getting from Fresno to VVR, but I wonder if you have an opinion on hitching from VVR to Fresno on a Saturday (or very early on a Sunday)? It seems likely that people leaving VVR are heading to Fresno, but I don't know how many people hit the road each day and whether they are inclined to pick up extras.

We would start our hike from Tuolumne on the 12th of June. With the snow reports I'm seeing we might not get as far as VVR.

regards

Denis Stanton

The only other thing you can do besides ride-sharing with somebody going up to VVR is to take a taxi - but that is REALLY expensive. Hitching is really not going to be effective - it could take you days to stop somebody heading up to VVR.

Are any hikers, or supporters, likely to be driving up to VVR on Saturday 12th June or maybe the day after? Willing to share costs/pay gas or whatever it takes. There are two of us traveling. My son ("SunWalker" or "Heaps") through-hiked the PCT in 2007 and is coming along to supervise.

I have hitched between resupply towns on Hwy-395 quite successfully but I can't see trying to hitch out of central Fresno being so straight forward.
