[pct-l] Fires on the PCT

The canister can be recycled though I don't know what it takes to do it. Coleman Exponent series used to provide a key with their canister to puncture the can and then it could go into the aluminum recycling. Good idea. I will find out how to recycle this canister type, but I think the risk of starting as fire is worse than canisters not being recycled. It seems like a trade off with everything--the lesser of two evils.

The Apache Peak fire was started by a hiker who happened to be on the PCT, but not by a thruhiker or regular PCT hiker.

I have a dislike for canister stoves because of the weight of the empty canister and also because they are somewhat wasteful in the trash stream.
