I spoke to Shroomer on the phone and he dictated the following message
and asked me to post it on the PCT-L:

Hikers Shroomer, Little Engine and Adam have come upon a dangerous
situation on the PCT near mile 548 – 550 at the top of the ridge about
eight miles North of Tyler Horse Canyon.

Someone has created a shooting range and placed a target directly on
the trail. Signs are posted stating you are in a rifle range and
broken shards of glass are on the trail in this section. But most
dangerous, is that someone has buried anti-personal devices on the
trail that consist of small blocks of cement with nails protruding. If
these were stepped on they would go right through your foot.

Shroomer attempted to remove the buried devices from the trail but he
may not have found them all. He as called the PCTA, Forest Service and
Kern County Sherriff, but be extra careful traveling through this
section of trail.
