[pct-l] On the Dangers of the UL Mentality

I agree wholeheartedly. I hike ultralight and usually solo. Before I
started doing that I spent a ton of time practicing skills. I even went so
far as to join a primitive skills/survival club to learn more. It paid off,
and I feel very confident - even in dangerous situations (lost, wet & cold,
alone, out-of-food, etc). I am very independent and take pride in "standing
on my own two feet" without having to rely on other people to save my butt.

But don't think you can learn this stuff on the fly - once you find yourself
in the situation. It rarely works out well that way.

Be safe, hike light. Preferably in that order.
