Sherri I love my UV light. It is fast and easy. The problem arises when the water is not clear and the light can not pass through it easily. You will need to do it longer. Also if there are little thingies suspended in the water, you will need to filter anyway, although you may get away with a coffee filter or a bandanna, and then use the light. Shepherd
