The laws and regulations may have changed, but....in 2006 if you put
an 'ORM-D' sticker on your box, you could ship some small number (I
think < 6) of isobutane canisters. From what I understand, the 'ORM-D'
sticker keeps your box off of airplanes. I don't know about HEET, but
I'd never really want to mail it in a resupply box. It seems like it's
a path fraught with potentially disasterous results (I've never tasted
gorp steeped in heet, but I can't imagine it's good). Canisters are a
bit hard to find at a few places on the trail, but are usually
available in many places. I did have to carry two partial canisters
taken from hiker boxes a couple of times.
