The videos have started coming in! To everyone who has submitted: Thank-You! I am please with what we have seen so far. It will be wonderful to screen these videos at the Kick-off. If you are thinking of submitting, I encourage you to do so... while there is still time. I need to receive them by April 15th.

I do want to make submitting videos as easy as possible. If anyone is having problems converting their video into a playable DVD- go ahead and send it as a video file on a DVD or CD-- I will be able to compile the videos from there.

Here are the details:

Starting with the 2010 Annual Day Zero Pacific Crest Trail Kick Off, we will
be hosting a new video program! Every year people come up and ask if they can
show their PCT video creation on the famous Tyvek screen. Unfortunately they
usually have to be turned away due to the time available. This upcoming year we
will spend part of an evening showing videos that the PCT community submitted.
With this new video program more people will get to show off their videos to the
hundreds of PCT’ers that show up every year at the kick-off.

We are looking for short videos related to the PCT that are 5 to 7 minutes
long. We will accept up to 12 videos. We are not looking for videos that only
consist of scenic photos randomly thrown together- we are looking for videos
that have story- videos that show that the video creator has something to say.
The video could be funny, painful, uplifting. It could offer a vignette into a
particular aspect of hiking the trail; it could explore a particular place or
person; it could explore a particular incident or event—but the most
important requirement is that it relates to the PCT. Also, keep in mind that
children will be present at the kick-off screening.

Videos must be submitted by April 15th so it can be received in time for the
April 23rd and 24th 2010 kick-off. Videos should be burned to a NTSC DVD Disk.
I-Movie, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro and Windows Movie Maker all can do this
for you. It can be in widescreen 16x9 or 4x3 aspect ratio. The total running
time and the video-makers contact information should be written on the disk. The
selection of videos to be shown is per the discretion of ProDeal, Weathercarrot
and Freefall. Those not shown may be retained for future use or discarded. No
DVD's will be returned. No video will be used for any other use without the
permission of the video creator.

Disks should be mailed to:
