Good morning, Kris,

Typical full-size 10 or 12-point crampons are not often used by PCT hikers.
In part because the trail seldom requires steep climbing, and part because
to use those full crampons it is necessary to have heavy, stiff
mountaineering boots – which very few hikers use rather than running shoes.
Better solutions are the various instep crampons that strap on or those that
are held by rubber cords. http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=264768

There will be some snowpack on the trail this year, but so far it is only
about 108% of average in the south Sierras, 90% in the central Sierras, and
123% in the north Sierras where you will not arrive until mid-July.

Enjoy your planning, and welcome to the PCT.
