I ABSOLUTELY SECOND "Easy" on this one. If I only had the time to tell
everyone all the stories of the great times I had at the VVR. I will take
the time to say 4 things though:
1) Jim & The VVR are just great. A person couldn't ask for a nicer guy with
which to deal than Jim. I have nothing but praises for the establishment
that he runs and the services that he offers.
2) This is a warning to any who like to party and might be having a
miserable time on the trail when they stumble into the Edison Lake area: If
UR seriously considering bailing on the PCT, DON'T stop @ the VVR. You'll
have such a great time here, and such great food, you'll be very tempted to
WORK at the VVR the rest of the season in exchange for food and housing,
instead of pressing on to Canada! Lol
3) If it's at least July 4th when U get to the VVR, check the hiker barrels
before you do anything else...there's literally TONS of REALLY GOOD stuff in
there...from like-new shoes that just didn't quite fit the last guy right,
to shelter accessories (rope, stakes, patch kits, etc), to food galore!
4) Bill (VVR Webmaster) and Jim (Owner), I think a poll on postholer or the
VVR website is in order. A simple 1 to 10 scale vote of those who've been
to the VVR would be great. I'd give it a solid 9 based on my 2 visits. I
KNOW that the vast majority of those who've been to the VVR, have had a
great experience and would go again. Don't get stressed or too upset by
those who think buying something that was mailed to the VVR instead of
purchased by Jim at Costco and driven to the VVR is creepy. I assure you,
they are in the minority.
