All:

I am one of those hikers who, for whatever reason, was unable to make it to V V R to pick up my resupply box. I emailed them to arrange a return. I had them open the package, retrieve the envelope containing the $40 cash, keep $20 to cover their costs, and return the rest to me. The box arrived at my door intact, minus the one $20 bill, a week later.

A word to the wise - be very careful what you accuse someone of in writing, especially when you publish it for all to read. You might be compelled to prove it. If in doubt, have your lawyer explain the California statutes regarding Libel to you. And let's not forget compensatory damages for potential lost revenue as a result of your actions.

In my opinion, a quick and public apology is warrented.................unless you're absolutely certain that (1) VVR would never sue you, or (2) even if they did, you can prove your claim in front of a jury.

When I was a police officer, a state's attorney told me "What you know - or think you know - and what you can prove are often two different things".

Your call.
