Electrolyte imbalances can go both ways. Some people really need to make
sure they get enough sodium and other don't need near as much. Too much
sodium can also cause health issues in the heat for people who tend to
retain sodium. Too much sodium can raise blood pressure and cause damage to
organs.

Most people that would be hiking the PCT would know how much they need, but
don't assume that the amount you need is the amount everyone should consume.
