wow, you carried 20 ounces of olive oil?  that seems like quite a bit...

For an olive oil container, I've found that a plastic soda bottle, the 20
oz. variety works great.  They are quite resilient and easily replaceable.
I carried mine while on the trail and on many other backpacking trips and it
never gave me any problems.  In purchasing the bottle, you get a free drink
of your choice of soda too, so double win!  Didn't have to really worry
about any resupply strategies, as I had plenty.
