Good evening, JJ,
The saying is, “Stop eating when you’re no longer hungry, but don’t stop
drinking when you’re no longer thirsty.” That recognizes the tendency of
people to quit drinking when that first superficial thirst has been
satisfied, but before the body really has enough.
In the desert, particularly at a water source, I know I need to drink more
than I really want so I add half-strength electrolyte flavor powder. Sometimes
I drink the first half-liter plain – that’s about all the flat, 100 deg. F
water I can gag down -- then I add the powder to the next half-liter, or
more. Overall, I can drink much more water that way, and the extra
electrolyte is also good.
I usually eat non-cook food – mostly junk food – which has lots of salt
anyway.
