[pct-l] snow in section P

Capt. Bivy just called me trying to work out a flip flop and wanted to know about snow conditions. I called the USFS office in Mt. Shasta and talked to a gal who stated you cannot even get to the trailheads at Gumboot or Parks Creek; the roads are still snowed in. She mentioned snow above Castle Crags and said there is more than 4 to 5 feet. I also called Ian Nelson with the PCTA for northern CA and southern OR. He basically had the same report: there are stretches of the trail (in OR) where you can get maybe 50 miles but then before and after that 50 miles there is a tremendous amount of snow. Not looking good for any flip flop up in this area.
