<< Weathercarrot, how's the snow between Dunsmuir and Etna? Thinking about doing that in a couple weeks. >>

With the exception of a steep snowbank traverse on section 26 of map P14 (about 2.8 miles south of Etna Summit and about 50 yards long), snow was minimal and manageable, and melting fast. The above spot even had some snow in it in 2000 at a later date and more typical snow year.

I'm not sure what's in store for the Marbles, but I'm thinking it's probably fine, with maybe one or two short tricky spots - but I haven't heard exactly where.

The snowiest section was between about mile 1574 to 1577, but nothing particularly difficult. Just patchy with no navigation issues. That section should be almost snow-free in a few weeks.

Georgi - you can consider this my conditions report for section P. Anyone in Old Station now will have no issues except for perhaps 60 seconds in that spot before Etna Summit.

Someday I will come back and wander the Trinities for a month. Anyone know a good web source for info and maps?

Time to overdose on ice cream.....

Hello -

I'm hiking northbound, and just arrived at the hiker hut in Etna.
