The decision to build a new bridge has been published

There is a really good discussion of how and why the decision was made together with a map of the reroute. If you take the time to read the thoughtful analyis you might be persuaded by the wisdom of the decision

I certainly hope that no one ignores the closure of the trail caused by the Leaman fire near Snoqualamie in Alpine Lakes Wilderness. There is huge timber in that area and there is a serious risk to life. A couple of years ago an EMT guy was walking with his two daughters in a recently burned area in Kootenai Park in Alberta. He lost both of his daughters when one of the trees fell and crushed them... The forest service has closed that section of the trail for good reason.

The PCT community needs to work with the Forest Service or they will cease to look for our input. They are spending a small fortune building a new permanent bridge which won't be washed away. The old bridge was built on a flood plain.

Let's have a great time on the trail, but lets be safe.
