The PCT is also an equestrian trail, so blocking it is something that is
avoided. In addition, trying to block the trail at any point is futile --
the sheer vastness, and countless access roads make it impossible. Obstacles
are fun and challenging to them. They will simply come in another way, or
make a new route.
FYI, approximately 72,000 PCTA volunteer hours went into clearing and
maintaining the trail last year alone. The USFS and PCTA are working very
hard to engage law enforcement in Kern County to deal with the abuse. Damage
and abuse isn't limited to the PCT of course. Local residents in the area
are in an all-out war with the problem.
There is something fundamentally different about these OHV people. Somehow
they don't see the destruction, or don't care. I just don't get it.

Greetings Hayduke,
That is not the case in the terrain shown in the video. The "gap"? Between
what and what? The trail is not channelled by terrain in that area. No or
few natural walls. It would be a major undertaking. Not a pretty easy one.
The result would be use trails to circumvent the logs.
