Has anyone tried to capture license plate numbers of outlaw OHVs?

The kind of motion sensing cameras that deer hunters use for scouting
could be just the thing for finding who the perps are:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/common/search/search-results1.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&hasJS=true&_D%3AhasJS=+&sort=all&QueryText=camera&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23

What would a ranger do if someone handed them a photo of someone
breaking the law along with their license plate number? Do they even
require license plates in CA for OHVs?
