Oh yes, of course!  I didn't mean to be insensitive, it really is a sad
story and I feel for the man.  My perspective is that if there's a lesson we
can take from his story it's to avoid hiking into those conditions, not
necessarily to depend on technology to safely get us through them, which
seemed to be the direction the thread was going.
