greetings, I'm considering thru hiking 2010 if I save the $ in time, if not then 2011. I've never used an ice-ax or done any mountaineering, though I'm looking around to see where the closest self-arrest course is to western NC. Winter isn't over yet, but how's it looking to people so far? An average amount of snow?
