I used the bulk freeze-dried foods on the AT in '06 and had no problems with freshness or deterioration. Maybe because I was always famished and would have eaten tree bark. I am stocking up on bulk f-d stuff right now for the PCT - from Emergency Essentials (beprepared.com).

Indeed. I’m thinking more about all the bulk freeze dried products, which
in my experience have a limited shelf life once repackaged.
Packit Gourmet is familiar with thru hiker resupply and will ship to
wherever you need.
