[pct-l] NEW TOPIC

I am not sure how this email list works, but I would like to post a topic for an upcoming email.

Topic: Eastern Sierra Food Drops
I am interested in doing food drops for the PCT hikers this summer of 2010. I am living in Mammoth Lakes and I can drop food anywhere from Lone Pine to Tahoe this summer. I have access to a Vons (similar to a Safeway), a natural food store and an awesome mountaineering store (Mammoth Mountaineering). Please email me if you are interested in this service. We can line up dates, a location and food. Best of luck to everyone attempting the PCT this year! I hope to see you all in the Eastern Sierras!

Thanks,

Melissa Buehler

I sleep cold too...I had a zero degree bag b/c I sleep so cold. Just depends on the pad I used a Z-rest in the beginning but the Sierras was colder so i switched to the Neoair and it made a world of difference with the heat factor.

If anyone is going up in a bigger vehicle and has extra seats, I'll be happy to share fuel expenses. I'm flexible on how to divy up the costs, especially since it's not my car getting the wear and tear. Other expenses may be shared as well. It'd be awesome if you're in the San Diego area, but I may be able to meet you elsewhere.

Since my hiking partner and I are starting the PCT shortly after the snow course, it'd be very nice to feel as normal as possible in those few days between the snow course and our start date.

In places between mile markers 503-507 (mostly patches) and 547-554 (deeper fields of snow experienced, some places over two feet deep) on February 13 and 14. Average speed through snow was about 8 miles a day, 20+ miles when there was no snow. Hiked from Tehachapi to Agua Dulce. Hope to continue south after getting some new gear to test out. See AsABats water report for additional details.
