Should these places be open in May, particularly Vermillion Valley Resort?

> It depends on when you show up. The store only opens up after a certain amount of time passes after the road is cleared of snow (high snow year means latter). It takes them some time to stock up after they open for the seaon (I was there in early 2007 when they'd only been opened a week and it was pretty bare). They could get cleaned out by the weekend hordes that visit in summer. That said, when I showed up on a Sunday July 12,2009, I found the store very well stocked with anything that I could have asked for. I could have easily resupplied here (though it would cost more then sending a box). I believe they had yellow HEET on the shelf. I also found alcohol back at VVR. Since you are asking about alcohol, I take it you are thinking about skipping Mammoth Lakes (the first real town in a long time)?
