I did not use a tarp. I used a tent. However, on my worst rainy
night, when I was awakened by rain falling on my face inside my tent,
I did wonder how this could be better than a tarp. That morning I
packed up early, my tent now weighing 5 whole pounds soaking wet, and
set off to a water source 2 miles up the trail where I found Mr. Zip
huddled in the rain under his tarp. He looked at least as dry as I
had been, possibly drier. Additionally, he was able to reach over and
fire up his stove from within his sleeping bag to make hot chocolate
whenever he started feeling cold.
