Take Amtrak, Greyhound, or commercial air to Bakersfield. Then these two buses to Onyx. Hitch up to Walker Pass. Do NOT try to walk that wide open asphalt highway; you'll fry!

Lake Isabella - Bakersfield Route
Service is provided Monday through Saturday. Service provides intercity service between the Kern River Valley and Bakersfield. Passengers may transfer to other regional carriers or Golden Empire Transit in Bakersfield.

You can also get from Bakersfield to Mojave or Tehachappi just as easily. There is a trail angel in Tehacappi who can drive you up to the PCT crossing.

East Kern Express
Service is provided Monday through Saturday. Service provides intercity service between the communities of Bakersfield, Keene, Tehachapi, Mojave, Rosamond, and Lancaster. Passengers may transfer to other regional carriers in Bakersfield, Mojave, and Lancaster.
