[pct-l] Flip

Hi Toothfairy

We really dislike the idea of not being able to have an uninterrupted hike
north, but are also resigned to the fact it might not be the year for it.
That said, it's still early. Warm weather over the next six to eight weeks
and things might look a little different. Even leaving in mid April, things
in the Sierras might look quite different by June. The thing I worry about
with an early start and snow is Fuller Ridge. There are some stretches
there that I find very intimidating to think about crossing with any snow.

There are a couple pluses to the idea of a flip:

A) get through Washington when it's warm and dry
B) get to go through the Sierras after mosquito season, without snow and
dangerous stream crossings - and I've heard it's really beautiful later in
the year.

Nevertheless, ever since I discovered thru-hiking and the PCT my goal has
been a continuous thru-hike finishing in Manning - I'll sure be disappointed
if we can't do it that way this year. :-( On the flip side, these things
tend to feel way more important before hitting the trail than they do once
hiking - at least that's been my experience.

Good luck. We'll be starting mid April to, so we'll likely meet you on the
trail early on.

Cheers,
Potential 178.

P.s. Any chance you'd consider a Hike for Haiti? ;-) www.hikefor.com
