Lightweight hiking shoes are really just trail runners with leather
on the uppers and earthy colors. So, they're going to feel and fit a
lot like running shoes, which is to say, that if you go out and try
some and they feel pretty good, they ought to not need any break-in
time.
That said, make sure you get them as wide as you possibly can go.
Most people wear shoes that are too small on a regular basis. If your
light hikers are too small, you'll get blisters.
It appeared to me that the most popular lightweight hiking shoes were
Merrell or others that look just like them.
