I took the reroute in 05. It was a super low snow year and I was by myself.
4000 foot climb up Boulder Pass and 2000 feet up Little Giant Pass that was
the worst trail I have ever been on. I was barely able to stay upright when
I forded the Napequa River. I ran into a hiker who lost his dog crossing
the river but found him a couple of hours later. There were a lot of trail
crews out working and I didn't have any trouble following the trail. It was
one of the most scenic hikes I have ever taken. I took the original PCT in
09 and was glad I did.. I had met a SB hiker who took the reroute and said
that there were a lot of major washouts that were barely passable. In 09 I
was hiking with a great group of hikers and had a great time. You just have
to be careful and follow your instincts. Bigfoot
